Interview: Bitanga from Evolution!

Mikey Bitanga led his team, Evolution to a first place finish in TLN's very first online tournament. We had a chance to sit down with Mikey and discuss his recent success.

TLN: Hey Mikey, thanks for joining us. Let's start off with having you tell us a little about yourself?

Mikey: My name is Mikey Bitanga, and I don't really remember how I got into MLG. I am pretty sure my Dad showed me the website and it interested me a lot. We ended up going to MLG Columbus in 2009 for my birthday. I met one of my friends on Xbox Live there, it was also his first event. I ended up playing the FFA and I got Top 16 (9-10th) place. I am from California and I am 15 years old. My gamertag is Bitanga.

TLN: As everyone knows, your team won the very first TLN online tournament. What sparked your interest in this event and made you register originally?

Mikey: Well, my dad got an email from TLN telling us about the tournament. He said we should do the tournament because it would be good practice for our team heading into MLG Columbus.

TLN: What were your thoughts on the tournament. How was the tournament run? Did it meed your expectations?

Mikey: It was ran pretty well by the moderators. They took problems well and understood how to run things.

TLN: Do you have a favorite game that you guys played during the tournament? If so why?

Mikey: Yes, MLG Team Slayer on Sanctuary, because we feel that we are very aggressive and play together well during that gametype and map.

TLN: Out of the teams that competed, who would you say your biggest competition was and why?

Mikey: I would say Variable. (OmegA, Skary, by HERO, Magnezum), because they are the team that have placed the best out of the competition (17th) and was our hardest match.

TLN: How did it feel to win the tournament?

Mikey: It felt great winning the tournament and gave us confidence. It made me, personally, feel accomplished.. It also gave us a confidence boost for the tournament.

TLN: With the tournament now behind you, do you feel that that competition helped out in your preperations for Columbus?

Mikey: Yes, it helped us a lot by teaching us what to do and what we need to work on. (Strats, Problems, What to do, What not to do)

TLN: The final question we have for you is how do you feel about the opportunity to go to the Gaming House for a LAN in the future?

Mikey: Very happy and accomplished that we were able to win the ticket to go the the Gaming House. Hopefully we are able to make it out to the LAN in the future and have a great time practicing.
